Fitness & Fundraising Wristbands

We all know that exercise is good for us. We also know that the idea of getting up off the sofa and into a gym kit is a little harder for some (or most) people than for others. Are you someone who likes the idea of running but find it all a bit, well, painful? It doesn’t have to be like that. Exercise can actually be quite enjoyable, and running is something that everyone can do, even if you struggle at first.

I can guarantee that you will be more motivated to get out and exercise if you do it with other people. People who don’t care how slow you’re going or if you’re sweaty and red faced.

What better way to exercise than to participate in a fundraising event? You can join with your friends, raise money for charity and get fit – the ultimate goal.

There are now 1000s of running events taking place each year up and down the country. Fun runs, obstacle races, half marathons, marathons, 10ks and 5ks – there’s something for everyone.

Here are some tips to help you get in shape for your fitness event:

  1. Go for a short but speedy walk – Try a short 15 minute walk every other day – why not walk the kids to school or leave the car behind when you pop to the shops?
  2. Extend your activities – Take the dog for longer walks, get off the bus a stop or two early, or park the car further away than usual.
  3. Take a Sunday stroll – Gather the family together for a nice long Sunday stroll in the countryside. For maximum impact, try to do this a few times before your event.
  4. Get your friends involved – encourage your friends to join the event and aim to run together once a week.
  5. Measure your success – Remember, even walking around the shops counts. Why not invest in a pedometer to see how far you’re going?
  6. On the day – It’s time for your event! Do some warm up exercises in preparation.
