UK’s Coolest Campsites

Do you ever get overwhelmed with the stress of the modern world, juggling the school run with getting to work on time and replying to an endless stream of emails? Sometimes you just want to physically remove yourself from the day-to-day distractions and enjoy some of our beautiful countryside.  Well let me tell you about one of the best forms of therapy, camping.

Now, if you’re new to camping I just want to point out that not every campsite is covered in mud and has broken tents flying everywhere like Glastonbury! Most campsites are similar to small holiday parks, with a basic field, a view and limited Wi-Fi. If this does not appeal to you then maybe glamping would be a better option, this takes away the faff of packing a tent and adds an element of luxury to your trip.

To make it a little easier, I’ve composed a list of UK camping spots that are sure to help you have the best camping experience.

Hillfort Tipis, Pembrokeshire

Spreading across a heather-clad 30 acres, this long-established camping site sits along the Pembrokeshire coast. The tipis and bell tents provide a more rustic feel to glamping, yet the facilities still include cooking equipment and solar lighting. However, there is no electricity, great for those who want to get a real taste of a low-fi atmosphere but not ideal for those who need a Wi-Fi connection.

Laverstock Farm Glamping

Slightly more luxurious, in the rural part of Dorset’s highest hills, a lovely little campsite with two shepherds’ huts. Perfect for couples, dog owners and walkers with an emphasis on privacy. These huts house a hot shower, rechargeable lanterns and a flushing loo. You could call this simplicity basic, with a touch of boutique. The fire outside is lit for you, the beds are made and if you don’t fancy cooking dinner you can order it in.

Wild Boar Wood…..the UK’s best kept secret

Hidden in the woods of west Sussex, the exact location of this semi-luxury campsite is only revealed upon booking. Pretty cool eh? Wild Boar Wood is in a captivating area of natural beauty which spreads across Sussex and Kent. Sustainability is at the forefront of this campsite, with wood-fired showers and eco loos that give the place a unique type of wild glamping.
